

She has tued her head and is gazing at you (or the painter) with those wide eyes of her. The most eye-catching element in this portrait is the turban she is wearing. Unlike today, it was typical of Dutch women to wear such turbans in the 17th century.
You can't tell what her eyes indicate. Is she stued, terrified, or just relaxed? Her pearl earing is glowing in contrast with the black background. Her mouth is partly parted. As if she wanted to say something, but haphazardly changed her mind and stayed silent.
